Link to Prompt Table: This way...

Despite the fact that she was currently stretched out on a chaise conveniently located next to a pool at one of Blaise's many vacation homes, this one in the Bahamas, Luna was having an off day. At least that was what Blaise called them. Considering her moods changed at the drop of a hat on a good day, she figured it was the kindest way he could think of to describe the days in which she just couldn't handle reality and was prone to daydream. It was days like this that she almost seemed like she wasn't truly there, and in truth, she wasn't there at all.

She was laying back, her eyes closed as she drifted between awake and asleep, thinking back to the days before her world had been ripped apart, before she'd lost both of her parents. Oh, she knew her father was still living, but he hadn't truly been alive since she was nine. Today, she was nine again, running in the field behind their little rook-like house, laughing and dancing and twirling 'round and 'round with her mummy. Blaise was there, sitting under a tree with a book in hand, watching them in all their silliness and she was Happy, truly happy. Even if it was only in a dream.

Blaise looked out the window, spotting Luna down near the pool and laid his head on the glass wishing there was something he could do for her. He felt the tears flowing down his face in a detached way, not truly accepting that he was crying. It hurt him to see Luna this way. He couldn't hex anyone to make her feel better, he couldn't do anything but stand here and watch her slip away from him more and more each day. He'd been there for her since he was nine and yet his hands were tied. When she had one of these days, he was forced to sit back and wait for her to come out of it, even though there had been more bad than good days the last year, ever since the end of the war.

He pushed away from the window, cussing as he stormed across to the liquor cabinet and poured himself some of the best Irish Whisky money could buy. Luna wasn't mental, no matter what most people thought, nor was she delicate. He never had understood why it was only him that seemed to understand her. But, now he thought he knew. Greg's letter had arrived yesterday, informing them that he'd finally grown a pair, opened his eyes and realised that he was arse over broomstick for Tracey and that they were engaged.

His mother stepped into the room. "Drinking before noon? What the hell is wrong with you?"

He slammed the glass on the cabinet and whirled. "Oh I don't know, mother! Maybe finally figuring out that I'm bloody well in love with Luna right about the time she starts slipping away from me! Is that a fucking good enough reason for drinking before noon?"

Her eyes went wide and then she laughed. "It took you long enough. I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever figure it out."

He gaped. "What?"

Callista just shook her head, looking mightily disappointed in him. "I've known since you were about fourteen that you cared deeply for her, far more deeply than friends usually do. Now, go out there and tell the girl how you feel."

He stood there, gaping at her for the longest time. Then he decided that he would do just that and hope that she didn't run away from him. He couldn't handle that, not without losing his mind completely.

Luna turned and curled up against Blaise, not even bothering to open her eyes. She'd been having the most lovely dream and quite honestly didn't want to wake up. "It's naptime," she whispered, scooting closer, sliding her arm over his waist. "Nap with me."

He chuckled softly. "Maybe later. I have something to talk to you about when you're awake."

She opened her eyes, confused by his serious tone. She froze, fearing the worst. "What is wrong?"

"Nothing," he replied quickly. "I just have something to tell you. It is good." At least he hoped that she thought so.

She smiled softly. "What is it? I'm awake."

He faltered, unable to speak, merely holding her tightly. "I adore you. I haven't said that lately and I'm sorry for that."

She laid her head on his chest, feeling the tears falling. "I adore you as well."

He was content with that, for now.
