The ring was secure in his pocket and had been for weeks now. His problem was that every time he tried to say what everyone knew he wanted, he stumbled, stuttered, or changed the subject. In short, he was being a bumbling idiot. Hell, if he could hex himself for the stupid, Puffish actions, he would. Glancing out the bedroom window he sighed, another day gone before he managed to say the simple words 'will you marry me'.

Greg changed into sleep pants. Blaise and Luna had dropped by and it was a concession to their houseguests that he bothered at all. Heart heavy, he tucked the ring into the small warded box in his wardrobe and crawled into bed. He knew Tracey would join him when she and Luna were done chatting.

He laid there for what seemed like hours before huffing and slipping out of bed. Retrieving the ring he made his way down to the parlour where Tracey and Luna were curled up by the fire. He smiled at the sight, happy that she and Blaise's decidedly odd, yet completely endearing, fiancée got on so well. "I hate to interrupt, ladies."

Luna peeked over the top of her chair, her long blonde hair done up in numerous tiny plaits. "This mean you're finally going to ask Tracey to marry you or will we be ninety when you two walk down the aisle?"

Blaise's uproarious laugher from behind him made Greg wish he'd not left his wand upstairs. Running a hand through his hair, he nodded, feeling all sorts of foolish. "Yes, Luna, that's what I've been trying to do for days now."

Tracey stood slowly and crossed the room, stopping just out of touching range. "Do you want to marry me, Greg?"

Puzzled, he nodded. "Of course I do."

She ducked her head. "So why not ask me then?"

He stepped forward, gently tipping her head up so he could look her in the eyes. "I wanted it to be perfect, but the words never seemed to come out correctly."

She smiled widely. "How about this than? Yes, Greg, I will marry you."

Greg's reply was to kiss her soundly. It wasn't until Luna's applause and Blaise's snickers broke through the wonderment he was feeling that she'd said yes, and he hadn't had to even really ask, that he broke the kiss, holding her tightly. He whispered, "I love you, Tracey. I'd be honoured to have you as my wife."

Blaise and Luna weren't surprised to see them Apparate out of the room a moment later.

Yay for Blaise/Luna! :P

I love how the whole thing was done backwards - Greg didn't even have to ask.
