Greg's eyes flew open the moment he felt the bed dip. He rolled, opening his arms wide automatically. "What time is it, Maeve?"

"I don't know," she whispered, crawling under the covers and into his arms. "I had a bad dream."

Still half asleep, he pulled the blankets up to her chin, yawning a bit. "Tell me."

It wasn't a question and they both knew it. So, he waited, snuggling down and getting comfortable. In the past five years, since she'd surprised him by Flooing into his rooms alone for the first time at age six, it was an almost nightly occurrence to have his Maeve show up at some point. After that first night, and the frantic searching by her mother the next morning, the Floo connection from her room to his had been secured by the Gringotts goblins. He wasn't sure what would happen once they left for Hogwarts in a matter of weeks. Frankly, he didn't want to think about it. He slept much better once she was here, curled up against his side.

Her tone was soft and groggy, but there was an underlying fear present. "I-I was sleeping. In the dream I mean. I think I was in Slytherin House. There...there were floating candles next to the bed, but it wasn't the same as here with you."

"Shh," he murmured, gently untying the ribbon at the end of her plait. He ran a hand through her hair, unplaiting it as he went. "It will be fine, Poppet."

"I don't want to be alone," she whispered fearfully. "What will I do if I have a nightmare there?"

"I won't let you be alone," he promised fiercely, laying her head on his shoulder and holding her as close as possible. "Draco, Blaise, and Vinnie won't say anything if you come looking for me."

She sniffled, shifting to bury her face in his neck. Her voice was muffled when she said, "It'll still be Val and Maeve against the world?"

"Of course it will. No matter what happens, we'll always be together, dear one. I won't ever leave you."

"Oh, Val, I won't ever leave you. I couldn't survive alone."

Closing his eyes, knowing that he would sleep truly and deeply now that she was here, he kissed the top of her head. Here, in the dead of night, when they were the only two awake, he could make these admissions. "No, no, we couldn't. We won't have to, Maeve."

He smiled when he realized that she wouldn't answer because she was already asleep.

:D Thanks! I'm so glad you like it. Hee! I just discovered McFly and really like all the songs I've heard so far- this particular one better than the original singer's version.

Thanks! I didn't used to write anything fluffy, but these two seem to bring it out in my writing. Glad you enjoyed it!
